Hypoluxo

Tucked along the Intracoastal Waterway between Lantana and Boynton Beach, Hypoluxo is one of Palm Beach County's small, quiet towns, and one many people drive right past without knowing it. It's an easy hop up the road from our Delray Beach office, and our Lehmann Realty team, led by Kurt Lehmann and his 25+ years in South Florida real estate, would be glad to show you around.

The town's name is said to come from the Seminole name for Lake Worth, roughly "water all 'round, no get out." Hypoluxo calls itself the Home of the Barefoot Mailman: its post office opened in 1886, and its carriers took the mail by boat and on foot along the beach to Miami. That story is told at the Hypoluxo Scrub Natural Area, with its trails, observation structure and 14-foot Barefoot Mailman statue. The town was incorporated in 1955.
